First, about that fantastic novel…
Cage of Stars by Bestselling author Jacquelyn Mitchard is a winner. I was up at night reading until 1AM and the bags under my tired eyes are proof! I won’t give anything away, but this book is an excellent read and I highly recommned it :) Soon to be another bestseller for Jackie I’m sure…If you would like to hear Jacquelyn and I chat it up about her books and juggling her writing career with mommyhood, go to http://www.momwriterstalkradio.com and click on her special Mother’s Day show – Wonderful interview!
My next book — The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult who happens to be my neighbor. Well, ok, not really my neighbor, neighbor, but she does live in the state next to me and I can’t wait to start her book – I have heard it is fabulous!
Ok, now to the blah, blah, blah -
There is just so much going on tonight that my head is going to explode! I have one son who is expected at The Principal’s Honor Dinner and at his band practice. One son at an away baseball game for his undefeated middle school team and one son (along with his dad the coach) to be at his baseball practice and I have a conference call with Podshow regarding PR for my radio show….which direction am I going? And the bad news is I looked at my planner and there is no end in sight for the busyness for the next few weeks. Hmmm, can you say ULCER?
So, we picked up my oldest rugrat from college last night – he is home for the next three months and has now completed his first year of college with a 3.75. Very nice. Now he needs to find a summer job and make some spending money for college next year – only seven more years to go…
This is Memorial weekend and it is supposed to be relaxing. Yea right. Time to open the pool, put out the grill and deck furniture and cut the grass again for the next four months. Won’t my boys be excited to hear just how relaxing this weekend will be.
Hope everyone has a good one!

Of course, what else?
I have had a busy day. I left early in the morning with my youngest son, Joseph, to go to his asthma/allergy appointment in BFI – for those of you who do not know what BFI stands for, try to figure it out – not a very nice name. Let’s just say we had a hell of a drive there and back! Good news – J does NOT have an allergy to chocolate or nuts-Yay! He is beyond happy as you can imagine. Glad that is over with as the kid has been craving a chocolate bar for over a month now…
My 17 year old, Nick, has two graduations this year – He attended his first year of college (as a senior in high school) at a local college and we just attended his class graduation the other night. (Sob Sob – my second baby is all grown up). His graduation from his high school, where he is Salutatorian, is coming up in 2 weeks and this mom will surely need the Kleenex for that event as well. His band will be performing at the graduation also, so that will be fun for him.
My son, Phillip, will be graduating from middle school soon (ceremony for 8th graders before moving up to – gulp – high school!). He is SO ready to move on to high school, it’s just, I’m not ready…
Tony, my oldest guy, is taking his final exams all next week (and cramming his butt off this week) to end his first year of college. OMG. Where did the year go? He will be home soon for the summer which will be nice, interesting, but nice…
And last, but not least, is my Anna Banana gal – I think she is having a growing spurt as I helped her put on her pants this morning and the poor kid looked as though she was waiting for a flood – oh well, that is what they do right, they GROW and do not stay cute and little for long!
Time for this mama to say goodbye as I need to get some dinner going and then I have a business call with PODSHOW :)
Later….

well, not really – YET.
Tonight our town had a local Battle of the Bands held at the Town Hall and three of my four sons were in it with their bands. My youngest son, Joseph has been waiting for this nght for two months now and the poor kid ends up sicker than a dog, staying home from school sleeping it off – there was no way in hell he was missing this event. I can understand why – he is the band’s drummer baby!
So we have my sons Joseph (11) who plays the drums, Phillip (14) on the bass guitar and Nick (17) on the electric guitar and they all sing as well. The three are in a band called – get this….Petting Zoo. They just came up with that name last week. You gotta love it. They played a couple songs and were awesome – this mama was proud :) Then my son Nick (electric guitar) is in another band with three other friends and they have officially chosen a name…..ready…..The Picks. Hmmmmmm. They played three songs and the crowd went wild! There were others involved in the event, and they were all great, however, in the end, the crowd was asked to vote on the best of the best – by screaming and cheering (good GOD), and the lucky winners were……The Picks! I was proud of all my guys :)
So, my 17 year old teenage son, Nick, from The Picks, who drove seperate from us in the truck, must have been so excited because he arrives home about five minutes after us and he comes in and annouces he has just realized that he left his guitar somewhere…..WHAT? He thinks he remembers leaving it leaning on the truck as he was loading his other gear into the back and then with all the excitement drove off and left his "baby" behind, possibly run over and crushed. Can you say, DUH?
Guess that was a little to much excitement for him in one night.
Well, Mother’s Day is just around the corner. For dessert I am getting homemade Banana pudding with Nilla Wafers – oh yeah! I also will be walking on my new treadmill – can’t wait. I will be the ultimate multi-tasking mama – walking, reading and listening to my podshow :)
Come check out my special Mother’s Day show with Bestselling Author Jacquelyn Mitchard and Hollywood Actress from ABC’s Desperate Housewives, Brenda Strong. This is a show you won’t want to miss! www.momwriterstalkradio.com

and it’s called Cholesterol.
How the HELL did this happen to me?
Well, I’ll tell you how – It’s in my genes. It figures. Now my doctor tells me that I need to cut back even more on the eggs and bacon – WHAT?!! AND start an aerobics exercise program three to five days a week – or else. The only problem there is I have NO extra time in my schedule as it is so I guess I will need to cut time from my sleeping hours ( 6 hours to 5 1/2 hours a night) to exercise – or else.
The worry wart mom that I am, I’m already setting appointments to have my kids’ blood drawn for the Cholesterol check, ya know, since it runs in the family – lucky me. The hubby likes to rub it in as his cholesterol is right where it should be and he eats eggs constantly…I don’t want to hear it. However, the hubby did say that for Mother’s Day he is going to get me a treadmill for walking so I can get some aerobic activity. Can’t I just go shopping and walk the malls?
So, if you have not had your yearly physical and had "The Cholesterol Check" call your physician and have it checked out. It only takes a few minutes for the nurse to stick a needle in your arm and suck out a few tubes of blood and then you wait a couple weeks to hear the news…
Good luck. Maybe you will be lucky enough to get a brand new treadmill out of the deal ;)
