Happy Father’s Day and a Really Good Novel
June 18th, 2006 by Paula

Today was Father’s Day.  My hubby requested a Taco dinner with apple crisp and ice cream for his dessert.  No problem – I simply whipped it right up. His five rotten loving children made him a nice card and bought him some really spiffy clothes and a blower – to blow out and clean the garage.  Now there’s a nice gift for Dad’s Day.  Mom gets a treadmill for Mother’s Day and Dad gets a blower…

My dad and my husband’s dad both live in the buggy and muggy state of Florida, so we gave them a call.  My hubby talked with his dad for all of 10 minutes, I with my dad for all of 10 minutes, then my dad hands the phone to chatterbox my mother and I am on the phone for another hour and a half talking to mom for Father’s Day – go figure.

Overall, we had a very relaxing day.

About the really good novel…

Two nights ago I finished reading The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult and OMG….you have got to read this book.  It is such a wonderful story and Jodi is such an incredible writer.  And this book has illustrations to go along with the story as well.  I just started reading another one of her books entitled, "Harvesting the Heart" and I can tell you right now it will be hard to put it down at night and turn out the lights – another fabulous story.  Thank you Jodi :)

Happy Father’s Day!

Well I have had one of those weeks – the "busy as hell last week of school" week and I AM TIRED.  I must say I’m most certainly looking forward to the lazy days of summer right about now.  Aren’t we all?

Earlier in the week we took my second oldest son, Nick, to his college orientation at UCONN for a few days – he enjoyed it and met some other kids with the same interests (kids who also play the electric guitar and are in bands, and kids who will be in the Honors program and Honors dorm as he will be) so that was good news.  We really like the college campus (in Storrs) – very pretty campus and we know it is a great school overall.  Nick is majoring in Biophysics and his minor is Structural Biology – that should keep him busy…

So then, on Thursday evening (2 nights ago) my son Phillip had his middle school graduation.  It was a nice event and Phillip even got to stand up and talk for a bit about what he has learned in middle school ….

On Friday evening (last night), well, that was the BIG night.  Our son, Nick, was finally going to receive his high school diploma (not to mention all the awards and scholarships that he scored – Yay!).  It was also a very special night for him because he was giving the Salutatory address :)  And he wrote a song and played it during the event and he and his brothers who have their own band ("Sinking Initiative" – they have changed names) performed some songs at the end of the evening for all…From one mom to another – I was beaming and one proud mama :)

Ok, it’s Saturday night and I think I’m going to kick back, read a good book…and go to bed early – sounds exciting doesn’t it?
