Recently on Momversation.com I was checking out the discussion between Cool Mom’s Daphne Brogdon, Finslippy’s Alice Bradley and MightyGirl’s Maggie Mason. The topic – Is Circumcision wrong?
Hmmm, difficult topic, but really great discussion between these mamabloggers. Opponent Daphne of CoolMom.com made it clear that she feels circumcision is dead wrong and unnecessary mutilation. Maggie from MightyGirl.net has similar feelings and talks about how she researched circumcision and how it is similar to female genital mutilation and that there is no way anyone was putting a knife to her son, cutting him, wounding him. On the other hand, proponent Alice of Finslippy.com researched studies showing the health benefits of circumcision, such as penile cancer and sexually transmitted diseases. She also mentions that because of her husband’s religion, he felt very strongly to have their son circumcised.
This brought back memories for me as I have four sons and all of them are circumcised. It was just the thing to do at the time. The best thing. Very normal, and I gave it the OK. That doesn’t mean when they came to take my baby boy away and told me what was about to happen that I didn’t worry or care. I did. Until they brought him back to me, I thought of nothing else. Now, years later, understanding that I had a choice to have my sons circumcised or not, I probably would do the same. I agree with Alice. No, it is not part of our religion, but I have researched the studies showing the health benefits of circumcision and I would not want my sons to have to deal with those things later in life. Yes, I made the choice for them because I am their mother and I did what I felt was best. That’s what it comes down to I think – there is no right or wrong answer here. It’s a choice. A choice that has to be researched and made by the parents of the baby boy.
My sons are older now – between the ages of 13 to 21 – and you know what? They are doing great. No scars, wounds or anything else. And I have no regrets.
OK, off my soapbox for now.
Thanks Momversation. Ohhhh, I see their next topic of discussion….Homeschooling: Good or Bad?
What do you think?

Today is not his real birthday, but we celebrated it today. Phillip will be 17 on the 27th, born at 2:03 pm. On his real birthday, we will be in a basketball gym watching his brother’s game. So what the hell, we partied two days early (and I did remind him that he is still only 16). He chose to go out for lunch at a local restaurant we enjoy.
Joseph and Phillip waiting for their Woodsman Burgers – J is getting ansy

Phillip – Ah, finally

Anna – She hungry!

And enjoy we did. I stuffed myself so much that I had to undo my button on my jeans — no, I didn’t get a picture of that.
After lunch we came home to sing happy birthday, open gifts, and eat cake.

Phil’s first lava lamp

Phillip – Money is always good

Phil hanging with Hendrix and Marley

He got some other gifts, things like pants and a shirt for school – boring. One of his gifts is late. He really wanted the computer game Diablo 3 so that should be here whenever it comes out (for our MAC).
Then onto the cake and pics with mom and dad – joy.
Phil the Cake Eater – Love that Cream Cheese frosting Mom

Phillip and Mom – huggy huggy
Phil and Dad – Relax Phil, we see, Dad needs a shave

Happy Birthday Phillip John! I love you. xo

As I look out my dreary office window this afternoon…and yes, I love winter, but today I feel dreary.
My hair also looks dreary, but that’s another day, another blog.

What’s all the hype with Beer Pong anyway? In my day it was quarters. My kids love the game and play it frequently. Replacing water for beer mind you (except for my college sons I’m sure).
Beer pong (also called Beirut and lob pong) is a drinking game in which players throw a ping-pong ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in one of several cups of beer on the other end. The game typically consists of two two-player teams, one on each side of a table, and a number of cups set up on each side. There are no official rules, so rules may vary widely, though usually there are six or ten plastic cups arranged in a triangle on each side. The number of players on a team can vary as well, from one to three or more. When a ball lands in a cup, the defending team must consume all of the beer inside that cup. The cup isn’t generally completely filled. It is also common to have a glass of water with the purpose of cleaning the ball between throws. The game is won by eliminating all the other team’s cups before all of one’s own cups are eliminated. When a point is scored a player from the opposing team drains the cup (belches) and removes that cup from the set. C’mon. This takes a lot of skill, don’t ya know.
J is hot with Water Pong
Maybe I should try my hand at it. (Belch)

Thomas the Woodworker (the hubby) had a question for me the other day. He saw that I was quickly finishing up my motherly duties (laundry, mopping dirty snow off kitchen floor, making school lunches, and so on and so on) so I could head up to my office to do my writing duties – in this case – to BLOG.
So he just had to ask.
TtW: ”Boy. You are really into this blogging thing aren’t you?”
Me: “Yea, so?”
TtW: ”Soooo, just curious is all…”
Me: “Curious? About…?”
TtW: ”About the whole blogging thingy, ya know, how exciting it is for some, and you, and all…”
Me: ”AND…?”
TtW: ”Well….so… can bloggers have like, blog sex, ya know, like phone sex?”
Me: ”Get a life.”
EXIT.
I mean, really. Only a horny guy would come up with that one.
As promised, here’s another pic from J’s basketball tourney championship, and toodles from one blog sex lover ;)

Uh, NO. Not that…Who even has time for that?…
Just had to post – though J will hate me if he sees this so shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
His 8th grade middle school basketball team (which is kicking ass right now with all wins 0 losses) had a weekend tourny (which I couldn’t make damnit) and guess who came home with the big trophy? Yeppers! They are hot, hot, hot!
Here’s some pics from the newspaper of J (#5) in action from Saturday’s game (Sunday’s game pics still to come…)

There is just not enough time in one day. There’s not. 24 hours. It’s bullshit. I fill my calendar, every week, you know, the “to do” list, and it’s a joke because it never goes as planned. I try so hard, I do. Sure the important things like GET KIDS OUT THE DOOR AND OFF TO SCHOOL, or GET BOYS OUT THE DOOR AND OFF TO PRACTICE get done. But everything in between just gets lost in the shuffle during the day as something else always comes up. To much on the plate there is. I need to work. I need to wash my panties. And damnit, I definitely need to check in on my Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts…what’s a mama to do…? I’ll tell you what this mama needed to do and that’s to shave her hairy body. Check this out. I realized yesterday that I hadn’t shaved in over 2 weeks. 2 freakin’ weeks! For me, that’s dangerous. Here’s just a shot of the leg (OK and nothing else).

…that’s what my desk calendar is all about. I got it for Christmas. And it is so awesome. I catch myself everyday flipping through the pages, daydreaming, like a naughty girl about places I could be…some days should be, and hopefully one day, will be. There are like 365 pages of pictures, ya know, 365 days in a calendar year….sooooo, I’d like to share with you some of my top choices of fun, interesting and steamy vacation spots to, like, see before I leave this earth.

That’s me. All mushy with sniffles. Reminiscing. Love that song too, by the way. OK, yes, I was recently looking through our old pictures of the kids – and me and the hubby. OMFG! I feel so – OLD. Some of the pics are like, ancient, ya know, yellowing. Yellowing? I mean, some are like 23, 24 years old, but they are all awesome. Thomas the Woodworker (hubby) was like why are your eyes all red and swollen? Couldn’t blame it on MaryJane as I hadn’t been with her in years. I can’t help it, damnit. I get all squishy when I look at old pictures. So that was that. And I thought I would share some with you today… :)
