The orange kitty and back to school
August 25th, 2009 by Paula

Nick and his kitty, Simba, are gone now.  So happy we got to meet his new pet. And Anna (and the boys – and Abbie the dog) really had fun with it while they were here. And guess what? They want a kitty now – an orange one just like Nick’s. Dad’s not to hot on that idea. We’ll wait and see.

The kids (Phil, Joe and Anna Banana) started back to school today.  Phil’s a big senior and J is a freshy.  Anna is a second grader this year.  They were all ready to get back – and so was their mom and dad.

Guess what?  I found out a couple days ago that I was picked to be a judge at the Caledonia Fair for the Colgate Country Showdown!  Can you believe it?!  I was so excited and ready, and then I realized, hey, this event is during the day, it will be hot (August) and sunny, and this is an outdoors event….crap.  I have a sun allergy :(  So I called back and explained my situation and learned that yes, this is outdoors and not a covered area (where the judges have to sit), so, I had to bow out and ask them to look for someone else.  So sad but I can’t end up in the emergency room with thousands of tiny, itchy blisters all over me, getting prednisone injections…CRAP.  Well, may the best two aspiring country singers performing move on!  Best of luck ya’ll!

dum de dum dum…JUST DANCE!
August 17th, 2009 by Paula

That’s what I am thinking today.

I have been in a spiraling slump the past couple of weeks over several issues that I’d rather not speak about right now, but hey, screw it, and just dance. Music, singing and dancing bring me happiness and so today, out of the SLUMP, I’ve had the music dancing through my head, and it feels so good.

I am so delinquent on sharing all the photos and videos from my recent trip to Chicago and Boston.  Shame on me.  Chicago was good I would say.  Enjoyed meeting other writers and bloggers at the BlogHer conference (especially Loren from mwlm, so cool to finally meet her!) and the SWAG was unbelievable.  I had heard from many others how incredibly awesome the BlogHer swag was going to be and to bring lots of extra empty bags, and so I did, and I filled them bags right up, I did.  Then after the conference our family vacationed for a couple days in the Windy City and I then realized just how big Chicago really is. I got really good at flagging down a taxi just about everywhere we roamed.

Then goodbye Chicago and HELLO Boston. Now there is my kinda city.  We met our two older sons and their friends, Meghan and Jen and had a super meal at The Rain Forest Cafe. Really neat restaurant for the kids and families. Then our four boys (and the gals) hauled it to the Comcast Center to see Slightly Stoopid, Steven Marley and Snoop Dog in concert while the hubby and I took our daughter to see Disney’s G-Force which was really cute.  Lots of good eats that weekend, of course.  Overall had a wonderful time.

But with this weather we are getting hit with this week here in the Green Mountain state, I am so ready for our trip to the lake. Have to wait two more weeks for that unfortunately.  :(  Actually guys, I’m ready for the fall season.

Great to be back!  Hey, the kids start back to school next week  *smiles*  It’s all good.
